Maturation of Thymic Lymphoc
نویسندگان
چکیده
Lymphocytes which undergo maturation in the thymus are essential for cellular immunity and for the antibody response to some antigens. In the mouse it has been shown that thymus-derived (T) 1 lymphocytes are required for rejection of skin allografts (1, 2), initiation of graft-versus-host (GVH) reactions (2), development of killer cells specific for histoincompatible tumor cells (3), development of macrophage-mediated cellular immunity (4), initiation of the mixed lymphocyte interaction (MLI) (5), responsiveness to phytohemagglutinin (6), and provision of helper activity in the response to carrier-hapten conjugates and thymic-dependent antigens (7-10).

Histone Deacetylase 3 Is Required for T Cell Maturation.
Recent thymic emigrants are newly generated T cells that need to undergo postthymic maturation to gain functional competency and enter the long-lived naive T cell pool. The mechanism of T cell maturation remains incompletely understood. Previously, we demonstrated that the transcriptional repressor NKAP is required for T cell maturation. Because NKAP associates with histone deacetylase 3 (HDAC3...
متن کاملMaturation and migration of murine CD4 single positive thymocytes and thymic emigrants
T lymphopoiesis in the thymus was thought to be completed once they reach the single positive (SP) stage, when they are "fully mature" and wait to be exported at random or follow a "first in-first out" manner. Recently, accumulating evidence has revealed that newly generated SP thymocytes undergo further maturation in the thymic medulla before they follow a tightly regulated emigrating process ...
متن کاملThymic exosomes promote the final maturation of thymocytes
Extensive knowledge has been gained the last years concerning mechanisms underlying the selection of single positive thymocytes in the thymic medulla. Less is known regarding other important processes in the thymic medulla such as the regulation of late stage thymocyte maturation. We have previously reported that exosomes are abundant in the thymus with a phenotype that indicates an epithelial ...

T lymphopoiesis in the thymus was thought to be completed once it reaches the single positive (SP) stage, a stage when T cells are "fully mature" and waiting to be exported at random or follow a "first-in-first-out" manner. Recent evidence, however, has revealed that the newly generated SP thymocytes undergo a multistage maturation program in the thymic medulla. Such maturation is followed by a...
متن کاملCutting edge: Contact with secondary lymphoid organs drives postthymic T cell maturation.
T cell development, originally thought to be completed in the thymus, has recently been shown to continue for several weeks in the lymphoid periphery. The forces that drive this peripheral maturation are unclear. The use of mice transgenic for GFP driven by the RAG2 promoter has enabled the ready identification and analysis of recent thymic emigrants. Here, we show that recent thymic emigrant m...
